RE:      Property Address:

Dear,

Throughout the years, the Mill Village has been plagued with damaging storm water runoff.  Many of you have probably experienced the effects of this problem.  Since becoming Mayor, it has been my goal to find a solution that will be both practical and community friendly.  We are moving toward this goal each day.

After speaking with the current owners of the old Springs Mill, Lyman Warehouse, LLC, they have decided to donate the railroad spurs leading from their facility to the two main railroad lines.  Once this transaction is complete, we will begin developing a plan to correct these storm water issues.  While finding a solution to this situation is our priority; we are also seeking ways to utilize this land for recreational purposes.

After discovering the “Rails to Trails” initiative we are looking into the possibility of seeking grant funding to create recreational trails along the spur lines.  I envision the trails to be a wonderful asset to our community with paved paths for walking and biking, along with benches and decorative lighting.

Please know that in the development of both these projects your personal safety as well as the safety of your property is of great concern to me.  So as we take steps to improve the Town we will be diligent in considering all safety concerns and developing action plans for every situation.

This is your community and your input is invaluable to me, so I would like to invite you to come by the Town Hall next week, any time between 9:00am and 4:00pm, to obtain more information and view the engineering and aerial photos of the proposed area.  We will be glad to answer any questions and in return we would love for you to share your comments and suggestions.  I am looking forward to working with you to make these projects a success.

With Kindest Regards,

Rodney D. Turner

Mayor
