Whether you're visiting here for business, vacation, or have lived here for years, we welcome you and hope you find your visit to this website a pleasant one. We encourage you to use this website to assist you in finding information about the Town of Lyman and this area.

Welcome!  Lyman, South Carolina is located in the Northwestern area of Spartanburg County which is made up of 13 towns and cities.  According to the 2010 Census, Lyman is one of the fastest growing municipalities in Spartanburg County.

Excluding Reidville, Lyman has the lowest property tax millage at 54.6 mills, with NO added fees while providing the following services:

•  Our own 24/7 Police Department
•  Fire protection provided by Tyger River Fire Department which is an ISO Class One rated department
•  Town Street Maintenance includes pick-up of garbage, yard waste and household goods within city limits
•  Sewer regional provider for Lyman, Duncan and Wellford

Lyman boasts a former armory building which has been converted to a rental facility for weddings, parties and other special events complete with a commercial catering kitchen.  We have a beautiful park alongside the Middle Tyger River Library, River Place Park, featuring a lovely pedestrian bridge crossing over the river that seems to be a popular photo op spot.  Our amphitheater seats 450 and has a 70 ft stage.  The Town has our very own Rail Trail, a converted former railroad spur, which is now a walking, biking, skating, pet friendly trail.  We will begin phase 22 of our Rail Trail project soon, extending it further throughout Town.  Lyman's all inclusive playground is currently under construction on a 2.5 acre site adjacent to our amphitheater.  We anticipate the completion of the playground to be July 2018.

On behalf of myself and the entire Town Council we welcome you!  Stay around and take a good look, we think you will be pleasantly surprised.

Sincerely,

Larry Chappell, Mayor
