Every person engaged or intending to engage in any calling, business, occupation, profession, or activity engaged in with the object of gain, benefit, or advantage, in whole or in part within the limits of the Town of Lyman, South Carolina, is required to pay an annual license tax for the privilege of doing business and obtain a Business License as herein provided. Contractors will be issued a temporary, one-time license when appropriate, and it is valid only for the event or job for which it is issued. Any discrepancies on the part of the business will be subject to a fine or penalty.

How to Apply
Business Licenses can be obtained during regular business hours, Monday through Thursday, 8:30 a.m.-5:00 p.m., and on Fridays, 8:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. (excluding holidays) at Lyman Town Hall, 81 Groce Road, Lyman, SC.

- License taxes are based upon the North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code of the business and the annual gross revenue earned within the town limits of Lyman.

- In-office credit or debit card payments, or payments made by phone, for Business Licenses will be charged a convenience fee.
Online credit or debit card payments are subject to a 7% convenience fee.
Rates:
The resident and non-resident license fee for each class of business will be calculated from the Business License Rate Schedule (PDF) linked below.
Important Dates:
- The current Business License Ordinance adopted by the Lyman Town Council, on September 14, 1998, and amended February 2, 2009, requires the verification of gross sales receipts with the submission of your Federal Tax return.
- Annual licenses are valid from May 1st through April 30th of each year.
- Renewals are due on or before April 30th of each year to avoid penalties and non-compliance.
